About
Blue Hijab Day is a project promoting awareness, understanding and acceptance of Autism Spectrum Disorders in the Muslim Community.
Over 2,000 people wore a blue hijab (or other kind of blue scarf or item of clothing) on the first Blue Hijab Day, April 2nd 2010. In 2o11 we doubled that with over 4,000 participants. Many people printed our fliers as well as pinned on the tag to let others know why they were wearing Blue.
There are probably millions of us with children on the spectrum, or who are on the spectrum ourselves, Autism affects about 67 million people worldwide! And there is not enough conversation about the Autism Spectrum in our community. We started that conversation the Jummah (Friday) of April 2nd 2010.
